Another book that I probably agree with the principle but not the origins. A great read so far.

Grammy & Grandpa (Texas) (25)
It was a fun Memorial Day Weekeend with Grammy & Grandpa. We ventured out to explore part of Texas and found a welcome beauty in a place called Hamilton Pool Nature Preserve. The drive was pure Texicana - tumbleweeds, ranches, and to our surprise, rolling hills. What a place. -

Play Day! (11)
After some serious weed pulling and cleaning, it was time for a little fun and horseplay. -

Sunny Day at the Park (17)
It doesn't seem right that we're out playing in the 70° sun while there are still areas of the country in snow. Yes it does! ;) -

Parting Shots from Orlando (13)
Fours months, 16 Disney trips and the Holidays later. Orlando was nice yet we're excited to be moving on with a lot of work behind us. -
Cell Photos (8)
I've had my current PIM/Phone for nearly a couple of years and I've taken maybe 3 photos with it. So, here we were at Target the other night picking up some long sleeve shirts and having some fun. -
Disney's Animal Kingdom, Boardwalk & Epcot (Again) (23)
These are pix from the week before and the night of Thanksgiving. -

Playing Around (11)
Just some fun pool shots. 90°F here today - in the middle of October. I can get used to this. -

Mamaw's Visit (2)
Apparently, we visited Epcot on the first weekend of non-tourists and the Florida residents packed the place. Still fun, but so crowded we didn't fight for pictures. -
Magic Kingdom with Grammy (24)
Day 2 at Magic Kingdom. We went in the evening to catch the fireworks and parade. Arrived a little too late as we found ourselves swapping the parade for last minute rides and watched the fireworks from the side of Cinderella's castle. -
Epcot with Grammy (20)
We talked Grammy into a quick getaway before we leave Florida. Day 1 was Epcot and Grammy faced her fear of heights on the new ride Soarin' which simulates about 100 people at a time soaring over California landmarks and landscape - Golden Gate bridge, LA, San Diego, the ocean, the dessert, orange groves, vineyards etc. All with wind in your face and scents to accent your trip. Very cool. So cool, Grammy rode twice! -
Princess' Birthday (18)
For Lauren's Birthday, she had lunch with the Princesses of Disney at Epcot. (You would think they would hold events like this at Magic Kingdom, but no.) It was a pretty fun day and I think she saw around 6 or 7 princesses. -
Disney World (9)
A fun day a EPCOT - then it rained. And rained. And apparently the boat that took us to the back of the park doesn't operate in the rain to bring you back.
With the Buckeyes playing the Longhorns, we weren't about to wait. So we hoofed it and took a little shower. Still fun! -
Shuttle Launch (6)
It took 5 trys and 1 false start, but the space shuttle Atlantis finally launched and we were as close as you could get without paying.
Should've paid! I left frustrated with 2 things.
First, I thought the shuttle would be more visible to the naked eye for the kids - instead they saw nothing more than a bright light and tons of smoke.
Second, after buying the almighty Canon Digital EOS so I could have more creative control over photography, I blew it. I didn't plan and think the process through enough. In choosing the auto-mode Sport setting, I gave the camera the authority to change film speed - and for some reason it choose 400. If you don't know, 400 is a low-lighting speed that is grainy but allows for dimly lit photography - say indoors. Why it choose 400 instead of 100 I don't know. Why I choose the high-speed Sports function to shoot a 'relatively' slow mowing object I also don't know. My bad. So, the shuttle pictures are grainy. Bummer! -
Quaint Ole Town: St. Augustine (25)
St. Augustine is the oldest permanent European settlement on the North American continent. Anchored by the Castillo de San Marcos fort, the town changed hands many times via political means, but never resulting from a battle loss.
The Henry Flagler (co-founder of Standard Oil Company) era ushered in a new dawn as a resort destination. He would later turn his attention to developing Palm Beach in the same manner and, today, St. Augustine is rich in history and in leisure. -
Pit Stop: Savannah (16)
We made only a brief stop through Savannah. Thanks to our new GPS navigator, we were able to drive right in, spend some time and drive right back out without spinning our maps and minds. A neat area that has too much history to explore in an hour.
As it would turn out, we blindly ended up at Chippewa Square, 1 of 21 historic squares that makeup the most historic, preserved area in the US. A local patron walked up and informed me as I waddled my tripod around soaking up the flag, willow and moss-laced streets that I was standing in the very square, on the very spot where Tom Hanks sits on the park bench narrating the movie, Forest Gump. Well, I'll be... -
Hilton Head Island (31)
This is one of the nicest beaches I've been to in a while. The reef sand is fine, white powder - cool to the touch. The beach area between the reef and the water line is compacted which makes for great bicycling along the beach. And the water itself is warm and with strong, warm ocean breezes, you don't get chilled walking out of the water. The hotel staff is mostly seasonal Jamaicans and there is a live band every late afternoon playing the steel drums and plenty of Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff and the likes. Actually feels like we've slipped away on a Jamaican vacation! -
Heads Carolina, Tails California (35)
Ever heard that song from JoDee Messina? Good, up-tempo song. So, here we are in the Carolinas for nearly a week. We visited our old neighbors, Juan & Marina who now live south of Charlotte, NC in a planned residential community. What a great community! We had a great time re-connecting and the kids picked up right where they left off. -
First Rest: Gatlinburg (19)
Sweet home Gatlinburg. Today, we made our 2nd extension to stay here longer as our cabin is so remote that I had to actually get some work done! I guess later this week though, we will have to move on down the road as our Orlando home awaits our arrival in 2 weeks. By the way, these cabins are awesome and I highly recommend the rental company: The Preserve Resort. -
Next up: Nashville's Opryland Hotel (5)
Our second pit stop was Nashville's Opryland hotel where I proposed to Julie some 11 1/2 years ago. It's not Paris, but it was good on the romantic scale. On our visit, we left only once to buy a computer and camera - yes, there's that much to do here. We didn't take many pictures, but the shows and boat ride were awesome. -
First Stop: Cincinnati (15)
This is the first pit stop along our journey to San Diego courtesy of Grandpa & Grammy Clark.
